Mulpani Cricket Ground named after cricketer Jaya Kumar Nath Shah

KATHMANDU: Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) has changed the name of Mulpani Cricket Ground.

The CAN meeting decided to name Mulpani after former president Jaya Kumar Nath Shah. Now it has been named ‘Jayakumarnath Shah (JKNS) International Cricket Ground’.

According to CAN, the national cricket authority decided to name it in honor of former President Shah. It was Shah who brought the cricket confined to the palaces in Nepal within the reach of the common people.

It was Shah who developed CAN as an institution. Under the leadership of Shah, Nepal became an affiliated member of the ICC in 1988, and in 1996, the same year as the associate member, Nepal played for the ACC trophy for the first time in Malaysia.

Likewise, the meeting of CAN has also fixed the date of district and province conventions. The district convention will be held by mid-July and the province convention by July 5. Central elections will be held on September 22nd and 23rd.
