Instead of succumbing to India’s undue influence, engage in paddy plantation: Balen tells leaders

KATHMANDU: Balen Shah, the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), has expressed his concern over what he perceives as political leaders succumbing to undue influence from India, implying a sense of sarcasm in their actions.

In a social media post, Balen Shah highlighted that if the country’s political leaders wholeheartedly dedicated themselves to paddy cultivation year-round, there would be no need for them to become “subservient to India.”

Balen emphasized, “If our leaders engage in year-round rice cultivation like this, they won’t have to be dependent on India.”

His statement comes at a time when leaders from different political parties visited farmers’ fields and participated in paddy plantation on Friday.

Recently, Balen has been consistently expressing his criticism of political leaders through targeted sarcastic remarks.
