Janardan Sharma likely to take oath as Finance Minister today

KATHMANDU: If everything goes according to plan, Maoist Center leader and former Finance Minister Janardan Sharma will take oath as Finance Minister today.

Sources said preparations are underway for Sharma’s oath.

Maoist Center Chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” is submitting Sharma’s name to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba today.

Sharma will then take the oath of office and secrecy from the President.

The then Finance Minister Sharma resigned from the post after being alleged of allowing unauthorized persons to change the tax rates on the day before the presentation of the budget for the financial year 2079/080.

A parliamentary special committee formed to investigate him gave a clean chit to Sharma.
