KATHMANDU: Dr Toshima Karki, candidate of Rastriya Swatantra Party from constituency-3 of Lalitpur, has raised question over the intention of the Election Commission (EC) for scrapping her candidacy.

The EC had on Saturday scrapped Karki’s candidacy saying that she was found holding the public post by being elected a member of the Nepal Medical Council.

Taking to social media, Dr. Karki said, “I doubt that it is a fair decision on the part of the Election Commission based on the complaint after the deadline for the same expired.”

She said, “The complaint was made after the deadline, however, I had filed my nomination application long before.”

Dr Karki has raised serious suspicion about the impartiality of the Election Commission.

Karki has said she would move the court against the EC’s decision.

“I will go to the court against this decision that has come to change the election results when a very good atmosphere is being created in my favor in Lalitpur 3,” she said.
