Planes to Lukla to depart from Ramechhap from tomorrow

KATHMANDU: Flights to Lukla Airport in Solukhumbu will have to take off from Manthali airport, Ramechhap from Saturday.

According to  Tribhuvan International Airport Spokesperson Teknath Sitaula three airline companies, Tara Air, Sita Air and Summit Air, which fly to remote airports, have been instructed to keep only one aircraft tight stop at Kathmandu and keep the other aircraft at Ramechhap.

He informed that the airline company will be allowed to fly only one flight daily from Kathmandu.

Earlier last week, a team including Minister of Tourism Jeevan Ram Shrestha and Director General of Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Pradeep Adhikari had inspected the Ramechhap Airport.

A regular flight to Lukla was scheduled from this airport before COVID-19. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, flights started from Kathmandu. In order to reduce the air traffic jam in the skies of Kathmandu in the morning, the authority has shifted the Lukla flight to Ramechhap.
