Planes grounded in Guangzhou as COVID cases spike



GUANGZHOU: The Chinese southern city of Guangzhou has decided to halt operation of flight services for two days after some airport staffers were diagnosed with coronavirus.

All the flight services were halted for two days after airport staffers tested positive for the coronavirus.

The ban on flight services will be effective for both domestic and international fights except for cargo flights, authorities said.

Meanwhile, the China government has also intensified coronavirus tests for the timely control of the COVID-19.

According to the information provided by health workers, tests were conducted on 1.4 million people on Thursday alone.

Of them, four people tested positive for the coronavirus.
