Prachanda says Nepal has made significant progress under federal democratic republic

KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said Nepal has achieved significant economic, social, and human development since the country adopted the federal democratic republican system.

Speaking at a program in Kirtipur on Thursday to mark the 48th memorial day of Nepal Communist Party founder Pushpalal Shrestha, Prachanda said progressive and republican forces must unite to protect the achievements of the republic.

The event was organized by the Pushpalal Memorial Foundation.

Prachanda stressed the need to safeguard the rights and achievements secured by marginalized communities and oppressed groups under the current political system.

“We are working to unite the communist movement, bring republican forces onto a common platform, and give the highest priority to protecting and strengthening Nepal’s national sovereignty,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, NCP Co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal called for honoring national figures who contributed to Nepal’s leftist and democratic movements, including Pushpalal Shrestha, BP Koirala, Madan Bhandari, Tulsilal Amatya, Ganesh Man Singh, and Krishna Prasad Bhattarai.
