Home Ministry alerts against misuse of adopted children

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has cautioned against the reported misuse of children that have been provided protection.

The Ministry’s move follows the complaints that such children have been involved in illegal activities in the name of providing protection.

“We have received complaints that children have been provided protection by the social, religious and other organisations. And later they are found to have been sent to foreign countries as domestic helpers or sexually exploited,” the Home Ministry has said.

It requires approval from the respective district administration on the recommendation of the local level in case of transporting children from one place to another through any individual or organisation.

This will not be applicable in case of parents of the children. In case of transporting children to foreign countries for academic purpose, it requires NOC from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology or it requires approval from the respective local administration.

If this is for other purpose, it requires permission from the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens or any government body of the respective country, the Home Ministry said.
