Fabulous and talented Swastima’s Malayalam leap



KATHMANDU: For Nepali audiences and music lovers, actress Swastima Khadka is not a new name.

The “kutuma kutu” girl, who made her Nepali debut in the film “Hostel” in 2015, is Nepal’s one of leading actresses.

She is just fabulous and talented because of which she added a Malayalam movie “Thirimali” to her list recently in which she has performed a power-packed “item dance”.

Therefore, she is in the news now.

Ask Swastima her favorites, and she would probably not overlook her popular number “kutuma kutu”, one of the most-watched songs from the film “Dui Rupaya”.

And not to forget the film “Bulbul” where she has proved herself a powerhouse. She also succeeded in winning national as well as international awards because of her acting in this movie.

Since ‘Hostel’, she featured in many Nepali movies like Love Love Love, Chhakka Panja 2, Chakka Panja 3, Jai Bhole, Nai Nabhannu La 5, Bulbul, Hajar Juni Samma, Ghamad Shere and Chapali Height 3.

Born on July 4, 1995, in Kathmandu, the actress attained her secondary level education from Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya, Bhaktapur. Khadka also holds three-year diploma in structural building from Thapathali Campus.

At 17 years old, she partook in the Nepali public excellence exhibition Miss Teen Nepal. Earlier, she disclosed to a local media outlet that Miss Nepal was “somewhat outlandish for her” and portrayed the experience as “aventurine stone” for her.

Khadka and movie director and actor Nischal Basnet got engaged in December 2015 and got married in February 2016. Subsequently, the couple earned the nickname “Rastryia Dai and Bhauju”.

Considered a frank and outspoken actress in the Nepali film industry, she impresses people with her unique sense of humor and wit.
