Election date will be announced within few days: Chair Dahal

KATHMANDU: CPN Maoist Center Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the government was preparing to announce the date for the federal polls within few days.

During a meeting with the office-bearers of Press Center Nepal at his residence in Khumaltar, Lalitpur, on Thursday, the Maoist Centre chair said preparations were on for the polls and the date would be announced in a day or two.

“The Prime Minister has talked about announcing the election date. I have urged (the PM) to announce the date only after finalizing some bills that are under consideration in the Federal Parliament,” Prachanda said.

On the occasion, he shared that there will be no change in the current ruling alliance until the upcoming elections which he has already conveyed to the leaders in the party as well.

Dahal, however, said his party would move ahead by joining hands together with the like-minded parties and forces while continuing the ruling alliance.

Similarly, Prachanda argued that the Maoist party should win the polls for the implementation of all agendas of the transformation.

“The agendas of the transformation have been questioned after the weak position of the Maoist party. The Maoist Centre should win also to give a concrete shape to the progressive agendas of the country, people and transformation,” the former PM added.
