NC President Deuba urges rebel candidates to withdraw candidacy
Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged NC rebel leaders filing candidacy against party candidates to withdraw their candidacy.
Issuing a statement on Thursday, NC President Deuba asked them to withdraw candidacy by Friday evening and help the party official candidates as well as candidates from the ruling coalition to get elected.
“Me Too” campaigns planned as elections draw close: UML Chair Oli
CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has said that ‘Me Too’ campaigns are timed for character assassination of candidates as elections draw close.
Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Thursday, Chair Oli said there were no clarifications for campaigns such as ‘Me Too’.
“Such campaigns are brought to the fore as elections approach near. Simultaneously, attempts of character assassination are made core agenda. There is no clarification for ‘Me Too’ campaigns. We should not indulge in such things and rather should take forward more pressing issues,” said Oli.
Hearing on governor’s case to continue on Friday
As the hearing in a case filed by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari against the government’s decision did not complete at the Supreme Court on Thursday, the hearing on the petition has been extended to Friday as well.
Though the division bench of SC Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Tanka Bahadur Moktan started hearing the case on April 26, it was scheduled for Thursday citing limited time. The next hearing is fixed for Friday due to time constraints.
Maoist Chair Dahal urges cadres to adhere to alliance spirit
CPN-Maoist Center Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged the leaders and cadres to adhere to the spirit of the alliance and act accordingly so that the candidates from the five-party alliance could secure victory.
Chairperson Prachanda said it while addressing candidates for chair/mayor and vice-chair/deputy mayor posts on behalf of the alliance at Madhyapurthimi Municipality on Thursday.
EC asks for public holiday on May 13, use of local levels’ physical infrastructure
The Election Commission (EC) has decided to write to all local levels through the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration seeking approval on the use of the physical infrastructure and their premises from May 11-13 for the voting purpose during the time of the local level elections.
NAC’s A330 wide-body aircraft lands successfully at Gautam Buddha International Airport
The national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has conducted an ‘operational performance test flight’ successfully at Gautam Buddha International Airport which serves as the country’s second international airport, today.
The NAC A330 wide-body aircraft took off from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) after a delay against the planned take-off at 3:00 pm and landed in Bhairahawa, Lumbini, at 5:55 pm Thursday.
