PM Deuba to inaugurate RSS central office building today



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to inaugurate the newly-constructed building of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the national news agency of Nepal, at Bhadrakali today.

The RSS building that was devastated by the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake was reconstructed on the initiative of the then National Reconstruction Authority at the cost of Rs 168.6 million.

It may be noted that PM Deuba had laid the foundation stone of the building with 54 rooms on 26 October 2017 (Thursday).

All services of the RSS will be operated from the four-storey building. RSS was established to serve the objective of producing and disseminating authentic, balanced and objective national and international news content.

RSS has its office in the headquarters of all seven provinces while total number of offices is 19 including in other districts.

It has 165 permanent journalists and employees, and is disseminating national and international news in Nepali and English languages, features, photo and visuals from 6.00 am to 10.30 pm every day.

In addition, RSS has been receiving news services from key news agencies across the globe including PTI (India), Xinhua (China), AP (the United Kingdom), AFP (France) and providing to the media outlets of Nepal.
