Fifth Indigenous Nationalities Festival to take place

DAMAULI: The Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Federation District Council Committee, Tanahun, is going to organize the Fifth Indigenous Nationalities Festival from 6 January, 2023.

The festival is scheduled to be held on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti in Vyas Municipality-3.

Chairman of Council Sujit Hirachan said that the festival is expected to ensure economic, social, cultural and tourism promotion of the district.

Hirachan added that the festival would contribute to preservation and promotion of tourism as well as languages and cultural heritages.

Preparations are ongoing for the festival, according to Hirachan. Of the total population in the district, indigenous nationalities make around 65 per cent of the population in Tanahun.

The organizer said that cultural performances, special shows, traditional songs and dances, and other events would also be held besides exhibition of handicrafts, agricultural goods.
