EC completes printing 40 percent of ballot papers

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has completed the printing of 40 percent of ballot papers for the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system under the elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) and Province Assembly (PA).

Towards the proportional and FPTP electoral systems, around 70 percent of the total required ballots have been printed.

Now, the shipment of PR ballot papers goes on. According to EC’s assistant spokesperson Kamal Bhattarai, to date printing of 1,067,500 ballot papers towards the FPTP system.

Of the readied ballots, 8,700,000 are for the HoR elections and 8,057,000 ballot papers are meant for the PA elections.

Around 40,000,000 ballot papers towards the PR electoral system have already been printed.

Towards the PR system, the transport of ballots papers to 68 districts has been completed.

The number of total voters for the twin elections is 17,985,070 and one voter is required to vote on four ballot papers for twine elections under both systems.

Around 80,000,000 ballot papers are required for the voting of twin elections taking place on coming November 20 in a single phase.
