JSP likely to win mayor and NC deputy mayor in Birgunj



BIRGUNJ: Rajeshman Singh of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and Imtiaz Alam of Nepali Congress (NC) have been confirmed as the mayor and deputy mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City respectively.

The victory of Rajeshman and Imtiaz has been ensured as they are ahead by more than the remaining votes left to be counted.

In Birgunj, there were 124,647 voters out of which 93,782 votes were cast in the May 13 elections.

While 77,577 votes have already been counted, now 16,205 votes remain to be counted.

JSP mayoral candidate Rajeshman Singh is ahead of CPN-UML candidate Bijay Kumar Sarawagi by a margin of 18,758 votes.

However, it remains to be counted.
