CPN-US Chair Nepal refutes Prachanda’s remark, rules out possibility of cabinet shuffle

KATHMANDU: CPN-Unified Socialist (CPN-US) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal has ruled out the possibility of cabinet shuffle, refusing to accept one of ruling coalition leader’s remarks.

Ruling coalition partner CPN-Maoist Center’s Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, who had been in Janakpur three days ago, revealed that efforts were underway to make changes in government.

From the very place Janakpur, Chair Nepal on Thursday refuted Prachanda’s statement.

Addressing the extended meeting of the party’s Madhesh Pradesh chapter, he said, “The government will not change. This incumbent government will hold the upcoming elections.”

He also said that the coalition partners were holding talks to forge electoral alliance in the coming local levels, adding that there are differences among partners on the issue. “However, there is a certain level of understanding at the leadership for the same.”

Regarding a query about how many local levels would his party win in the polls if there was to be no electoral alliance; Chair Nepal said it was a tough calculation to make. Nevertheless, he added that the prospects were emerging better.

He also clarified that electoral coordination could not take place with those (referring to UML Chair KP Oli) who used demeaning statements against others.
