President does not have unlimited rights: NC leader Acharya

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader and former minister Mahesh Acharya pointed out that all are subject to obey the spirit and goal of the constitution and federalism.

President does not have unlimited rights to not certify the bill passed by the parliament, a place where citizen’s sovereign rights are represented and exercised, he referred.

He also offered sorrow over failure to make some laws although it has been long since the constitution was promulgated.

The leader was launching a souvenir published by the Nepali Congress parliamentary party-Province 1 amid a function in Biratnagar on Friday.

This souvenir could be a guideline for the Province Assembly, he said, adding that it was unfortunate that consensus was eluding on naming the province so far.

Similarly, Minister for Road Infrastructures and Urban Development Himal Karki said the memento has depicted NC’s role in the PA.

NC leader Rajib Koirala viewed that denial to embrace changes created problems in the country.

Other speakers as Shiva Narayan Gangain, Kedar Bhandari, Dipak Chapagain and Umesh Thapa spoke about party’s role in the PA.
