Balen widens lead with 47,091 votes in KMC

KATHMANDU: Independent mayoral candidate of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balen Shah has maintained the lead against the candidate of the alliance.

According to the vote count updates made public as of Monday afternoon, Shah has got  47,091 votes. He is 19,175 votes ahead the nearest competitor. His contender for Nepali Congress (NC) Sirjana Singh garnered 27,916  votes.

Similarly, Keshav Sthapit of CPN-UML is trailing behind with 27,105 votes.

For the post of deputy mayor, UML’s Sunita Dangol is leading the  CPN (Unified Socialist)’s candidate Rameshwor Shrestha with a large number of votes. Dangol has got 47,035 votes followed by Shrestha with 15,282.

The local elections were held on May 13.
