NC wins chair, UML vice-chair in Kamal rural municipality



DAMAK: Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Hukum Singh Rai has registered his win for the post of chairperson in the Kamal rural municipality of Jhapa.

e secured 12,868 votes while his close contender CPN-UML’s candidate Bhim Rai gathered 9,653 votes.

Newly-elected Singh was defeated by immediate past Chairperson of the rural municipality Menuka Kafle in the earlier round of the local election on a lottery basis.

According to the Kamal-based Office of the Election Officer, UML candidate Prameela Neupane Tiwari secured 10,845 votes to emerge winner as the vice-chairperson.

Her close contender Parshuram Subedi of CPN (Maoist Centre) got 8,371 votes.
