KATHMANDU: World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanoma Gabrias has left for Geneva after a three-day visit to Nepal.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the WHO Director-General and his team returned to Geneva on Saturday morning.
Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health and Population bade farewell to Tedros at the Tribhuvan International Airport today.
While in Nepal, Tedros met with President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and Health Minister Birodh Khatiwada.
During the meeting with Health Minister Khatiwada, Nepal expressed its commitment to support and assist the nomination of Director General Tedros for a second term.
The WHO Director General also inspected the vaccination campaign against typhoid in Lalitpur and the public hospitals in Kathmandu.
