All possible measures will be taken to pass MCC: NC leader Bishwakarma

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Meen Bishwakarma has said that all necessary options and measures will be taken to pass the US grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

Speaking at an interaction organized in Kathmandu Wednesday, he said national politics should not be entangled with MCC. Stating that MCC is in the interest of the country, he added all parties should stand together to pass it unanimously.

Also speaking at the program, CPN-UML leader Karna Bahadur Thapa decried the ruling coalition’s drama on MCC. He said that the ruling parties would be held accountable for any business presented by the incumbent government in the parliament. He strongly criticized the CPN-Maoist Center and the CPN-Unified Socialist for their dual standard on MCC.

Similarly, Maoist Center lawmaker Jhakku Subedi said that the Maoists would not pull out of the current government recalling that the coalition was formed under difficult circumstances. He also admitted that his party had differences with the NC on the agenda of the MCC.

Influential youth leader of the Democratic Socialist Party (DSP) Keshab Jha clarified that the DSP would vote in favor of MCC as his party had supported the agreement from the very beginning.

Stating that MCC is in the interest of the nation, Jha expressed confidence that development would take place in the infrastructure sector owing to MCC.
