PM Deuba reaches Khumaltar to meet with Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has reached Khumaltar to meet with CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda.’

Prime Minister Deuba, who is also the president of ruling Nepali Congress (NC), has reached Prachanda’s residence, Khumaltar, to discuss the US grant millennium challenge corporation (MCC) and the ruling coalition.

Deuba has intensified talks with the leaders of the political parties, of late, as the deadline to pass the MCC is fast-approaching.
On Tuesday evening, he had held discussions on this issue with the top leaders of CPN-UML including chairman KP Sharma Oli.

Deuba asked UML Chairman Oli to extend support to pass the MCC during the meeting yesterday evening. In response, Oli said his party would extend support only after its demands are addressed.

UML has been obstructing the parliament demanding action against its 14 lawmakers including senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal who defected to form CPN (Unified Socialist).

Deuba has met with UML Chairman Oli after finding dual roles of the Maoist Center and Unified Socialist even though his priority is to keep the ruling coalition intact.
