President violated the constitution: HURPES

KATHMANDU: The Human Rights and Peace Society (HURPES) has said that President Bidya Devi Bhandari has failed to meet her obligation of certifying the bill passed by both houses of the federal parliament in accordance with the constitution.

It is unconstitutional not to certify the bill passed by both houses of the parliament after it was sent back for reconsideration by the President, reads a statement issued in Kathmandu on Thursday by President of the Society, Govinda Khanal.

The statement also requests the government and responsible political parties to find a judicial way out of the situation brought about by the latest act of President Bhandari.
