Friendly match set between Nepal and Afghanistan cancelled

KATHMANDU: Two friendly matches between Nepal’s national football team and Afghanistan have been canceled.

ANFA General Secretary Indraman Tuladhar confirmed the cancellation of two practice matches.

“Both games have been canceled,” he said on Sunday.

Earlier, ANFA had decided to play Afghanistan on May 25 and 29 before the AFC Cup-2023.

Tuladhar said that the match scheduled to be played in Doha, Qatar was canceled due to the refusal of the Afghan team.

“The Afghan team was canceled because it did not come to Qatar,” he said.

However, the Nepali team will leave for Qatar this week. While in Qatar, Nepal will play against the local team.

In the AFC Cup qualifiers, Nepal will play against Jordan, Indonesia and Kuwait in the second week of June.

Coach Abdullah Almutairi has already announced the 23-member squad. In which 10 players, including Captain Kiran Kumar Limbu, of the regular team are out.
