UML wins mayor in Shuklaphanta municipality



MAHENDRANAGAR: The CPN (UML) has won a mayoral seat in Shuklaphanta municipality in Kanchanpur district.

UML’s Rana Bahadur Mahara has been elected for the post with 6,773 votes while his closest rival Chinta Mani Bhatta from the Nepali Congress (NC) got 6,264 votes.

Similarly, NC’s Kalpana Joshi Panta has been elected for deputy mayor in the municipality. She secured 6,519 votes against 5,360 votes of nearest contender Madhav Panta from the CPN (Unified Socialist).

Meanwhile, the NC is leading vote count in Bhimdatta and Punarbas municipalities.
