1,06,516 out of 1,91,186 votes cast in Kathmandu metropolis counted so far

84,670 votes left to count



KATHMANDU: Out of the total 1,91,186 votes cast in 32 wards of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, 1,06,516 votes have been counted, according to Assistant Election Officer of Kathmandu Prem Prasad Poudyal. That makes 84,670 left to count.

So far, the results of ward numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 and 32 have been made public in Kathmandu metropolis. Counting of votes is underway in ward numbers 9, 10, 11, 12, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26.

Independent candidate for mayor of Kathmandu metropolis Balen Shah has so far garnered the most 40,003 votes, Nepali Congress’ Srijana Singh has raced ahead of UML’s Keshav Sthapit and is second in the race with 22,749 votes. UML’s Sthapit is third in the race with 22,095 votes.

Meanwhile, Seven Nepali Congress (NC) candidates and seven CPN-UML candidates have won the post of ward chairperson in 14 wards of Kathmandu Metropolitan City where vote count has concluded.

UML candidates have been elected in wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 31 and 32. UML’s Bharat Lal Shrestha in Ward No. 1, Rajendra Kumar Shrestha in Ward No. 2, Prem Thapa in Ward No. 3, Dinesh Maharjan in Ward No. 4, Birendra Prajapati in Ward No. 5, Saroj Dhakal in Ward No. 31 and Nawaraj Parajuli in Ward No. 32 have won the elections.

Similarly, NC has won the post of ward chairperson of wards 6, 7, 8, 27, 28, 29 and 30. Bhuwan Lama in Ward No. 6, Bimal Kumar Hoda in Ward No. 7, Ashaman Sangat in Ward No. 8, Yogesh Kumar Khadgi in Ward No. 27, Bhairam Khadgi in Ward No. 28, Kush Dhakal in Ward No. 29 and Dal Bahadur Karki in Ward No 30.
