Update: Three die in Kapan fire



KATHMANDU: Three persons died in a fire in Kapan, Kathmandu on Wednesday evening.

Dineshraj Mainali, Superintendent of Police, Kathmandu, informed that three people lost their lives in a fire in a house in Kapan at 7:55 pm on Wednesday.

The police said that a gas cylinder in the house burst into flames.

According to Kathmandu Valley Police Office spokesperson Sitaram Rijal, the identities of the two deceased have not been revealed.

They have been taken to Teaching Hospital Maharajgunj for postmortem.

Some others were also injured. They have also been taken to the teaching hospital for treatment.

The police said that it is not clear how many people have been injured.

Fire engines from Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur were used to control the fire, police said.

Spokesman Rijal said that the fire has now been completely brought under control.

Similarly, it is estimated that others may have died at the scene. Police are investigating the incident.
