KATHMANDU: Nepal has secured a place in the semi-finals of the Global Twenty20 Cricket World Cup qualifiers by defeating Canada by eight wickets on Monday’s match.
Nepal has won all the three Group A matches. Earlier, Nepal had won over Oman and Philippines.
In today’s match, Nepal took all the wickets of Canada in 15 overs. Canada scored 80 runs. In reply, Nepal scored 81 runs in 14.1 overs.
Kushal Bhurtel of Nepal remained unbeaten on 37, Dipendra Singh Airee on 31 and Asif Sheikh on 16. Sandeep Lamichhane took 4 wickets for Canada while Avinash Bohara and Kamal Singh Airee took 3 wickets each.
Lamichhane was declared the man of the match today.
Congratulating the teammates and the supporters Nepali team, captain Sandeep Lamichhane assured to strive the best to lead the team to World cup.
Lamichhane said that the team had served their best and the goal is to take Nepal to the World Cup by maintaining the same spirit.
