Prachanda did not agree in coalition decision to table MCC: Prachanda’s secretariat

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s secretariat has said that the party chair had expressed his dissent over the ruling coalition’s decision to take US grant project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) to the parliamentary discussion on Sunday’s session of the parliament.

According to Prachanda’s personal secretary Ganga Dahal, the Maoist Chairman urged Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and other coalition leaders to send MCC grant proposal to parliamentary committee for discussion prior to tabling it to the parliament for discussion, but the Prime Minister ignored Prachanda’s proposal.

“Although it is  natural for the government to take any proposal to the parliament for discussion, Prachanda requested the Prime Minister and other leaders to send it to the parliamentary committee for study and take further steps as per the committee’s recommendation as the parliament has been obstructed since long,” the Maoist Chairman’s secretary said, adding, “He further remarked that it would not be much good to ask the Speaker to table MCC when the other agendas were being stalled due to UML obstruction.”

She said that Prime Minister Deuba insisted on getting the bill tabled in today’s meeting and other leaders did not disagree with him (Deuba).

However, the Maoist Chairman’s secretariat’s clarification has been regarded as confusing and the expression of the leadership’s dubious nature.
