Prachanda reiterates his desire to lead government

KATHMANDU: Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has said that leader of the ruling alliance would soon forge consensus on a common Prime Ministerial candidate.

Prachanda said that there has been no concrete discussion among the ruling partners on picking the prime minister.

“If I get the opportunity to lead the country, I have already made my position clear that I will take responsibility,” Prachanda said.

“However, there has not been any formal discussion within the coalition on the issue,” he added.

Prachanda also dismissed reports of Maoist-UML talks to form the government.

“There has been no such discussion as rumored,” he claimed, adding, “We are definitely in touch with other political parties, including the new ones.”

He said he met with Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, Janamat Party Chairman CK Raut and Nagarik Unmukti Party leader Resham Chaudhary.

He claimed that the five-party alliance will continue by settling all issues amicably.

Prachanda also said that there was no discussion within the alliance about who should be made the President.

He said that the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Speaker and other positions will be agreed upon in a package.
