CHITWAN: As many as 213 people were infected with dengue in the last one year.

Out of the tests carried out on 3,564 people, 213 were found to have been infected with dengue.

According to Gitanjali Dhakal, Public Health Officer of Health Office Chitwan, this number is less than the previous year in which 247 people were found to have dengue.

Infection is caused by the bite of a female Aedes mosquito.

Initial symptoms of dengue include fever, red and sore eyes, headache, stomach, joint and muscle pain, and lethargy.

Dhakal said that if a person who is infected with dengue from one type of virus is bitten by a mosquito with another type of virus, the infection becomes fatal.
