Australia to refund visa fee to students who enter country in 8 weeks

CANBERRA: The Australian government has decided to reimburse the visa fee to those foreign students who enter Australia in the next eight weeks starting today.

A cabinet meeting held today decided to refund the visa fee to the foreign students who enter Australia in the next eight weeks starting January 19, informed Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

The Department of Immigration (DoI) will return the visa fee to 150,000 foreign students who have applied for visas to Australia.
A student has to pay AUD 630 in visa fee.

Currently, there is an acute shortage of manpower in Australia due to COVID-19.

The Australian government has lifted a time card imposed on the foreign students for work. Earlier, foreign students were allowed to work only for 20 hours a week.
