Parsa resident wins Rs one million under taxpayer incentive scheme



KATHMANDU: Lalbabu Sah Kanu of Parsa has won a Rs 1 million prize under the government’s taxpayer incentive scheme. The Inland Revenue Department announced his name on Friday, October 2, for transactions made during the first 15 days of October.

The winner was announced at a programme held at the Ministry of Finance in the presence of Sumnima Udas, chairperson of the House of Representatives’ International Relations and Tourism Committee, and lawmakers Ganesh Karki and Santosh Rajbanshi.

According to the Inland Revenue Department, Kanu was selected for the bumper prize after purchasing lubricant oil worth Rs 21,000 and obtaining a tax invoice for the transaction.

Following the announcement, Inland Revenue Department Director General Dr Bhishma Kumar Bhusal called Kanu to congratulate him and asked him to visit the nearest tax office to collect the prize.

Department data shows that 31,818,286 transactions qualified for the incentive scheme during the first 15 days of October. Of these, 247,979 were cash transactions, while 31,570,307 were conducted through online or card payments. The department also announced winners of the daily Rs 100,000 prize for the same period.
