All preparations for Nov 20 election complete: EC
The Election Commission (EC) said all election-related preparations were completed and the voters can cast their ballot in the November 20 parliamentary election in a fearless manner.
A total of 246,960 staff and around 300 thousand of security persons have reached their respective duty stations with election materials for the upcoming twin poll, the Commission said.
The Commission appealed to the voters to exercise their franchise without being under the influence of anyone or without being fearful and intimidated.
Home Ministry assures safe, fair, and peaceful atmosphere for voting
The Home Ministry has urged the voters to be assured of free, fair and peaceful atmosphere for the election to be held on Sunday.
Anyone involved in violent activities has been kept under scrutiny, so there will be safe atmosphere for voting.
Organizing a news conference on the eve of the general election on Friday, Spokesperson at the Home Ministry, Binod Prakash Singh, reiterated that any individual, group or organization likely to jeopardize the election staffs, voters and ballot safety is under surveillance.
CoAS Sharma and CEC Thapaliya meet to talk on election security
A high-level delegation, including Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) Prabhu Ram Sharma, held a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya today in connection with security management for the November 20 election to the Member of House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly.
During the meeting held at the Election Commission Secretariat at local Kantipath, CoAS Sharma briefed about the works and activities carried out by the Nepali Army in connection to the election security.
Police nab two with 10,000 fake ballot papers and stamp papers
Two people have been arrested from Birgunj with fake ballot papers and Swastik stamps.
33-year-old Rajan Singh of Birgunj-16 Inarwa and 23-year-old Amiri Raut Kurmi of Kalaiya-16, Bara were arrested.
They were arrested by a joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police when they were coming to Birgunj from Kalaiya in Ba 01-025 Ch 6636.
Nepal defeats UAE by 6 wickets
Nepal has defeated United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 6 wickets.
Batting first UAE posted a total of 176 runs in 50 overs by losing nine wickets on Friday.
In response, Nepal has achieved the given target by making 180 runs in 40.1 overs by losing 4 wickets.
Nepal’s Aasif Sheikh scored 88 runs in 119 balls.
EPS Korean Language Test 2022 results out
Results of the second phase of the Korean language test under production sector under the Employment Permit System (EPS) has been published.
Out of the total 18,043 candidates, 8,785 passed the test held from September 5 to November 7, said the EPS Korea section, the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security.
A total of 18,595 applications were filed for the exams.
NEA earns Rs 10.39 billion through electricity exports
Nepal has exported hydropower worth Rs 10.39 billion to India till mid-November.
According to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), it has so far sold 1.26 billion units of hydropower in the Indian market.
NEA started selling electricity on the day-ahead market of the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) in mid-May.
Govt decides to increase surveillance on Biplav-led NCP
The government has decided to increase surveillance on the Nepal Communist Party (Biplav) leaders owing to the latter’s declaration to influence the election program adversely.
Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’, the General Secretary of the NCP outfit, has decided to boycott the elections.
The government decided to increase vigilance after the party tried to spoil the atmosphere of the election by detonating hoax bombs in various places of the country with only a few days left for the election.
Major trading post in Birgunj closed for 72 hours
The Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal has barricaded the main road of customs at Inarwa in Birgunj and stopped the movement of vehicles and people from Friday.
All the points of the district connected with India have been closed to prevent possible criminal activities from across the border during the November 20 elections.
NAC aircraft for Bhojpur returns to Kathmandu due to technical problems
Nepal Airlines’ Twin Otter flight from Kathmandu to Bhojpur has been turned back midway due to technical problems on Friday.
According to Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) sources, there were 15 passengers on board.
The plane is grounded. It is the only ship on domestic flights with the corporation. After this aircrafts is grounded, the internal flight of the corporation has come to a standstill.
According to the sources, this ship was scheduled to fly to Bhojpur, Phaplu and Dang on Friday.
Election Commission fines Manange Rs 25,000
The Election Commission (EC) has fined Gandaki Youth and Sports Minister Rajeev Gurung alias Deepak Manange Rs 25,000.
Manange, who was elected unopposed as an independent in Manang ‘B,’ claimed that the election expenses set by the commission were insufficient to feed the activists alcohol, and the commission imposed a fine.
He had previously been asked to explain himself.
According to the commission, he was fined 25,000 for failing to provide a satisfactory response to the commission’s clarification request.
Nepal sees eight new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours
Nepal recorded a total of eight new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Friday.
All the eight confirmed cases were detected through the RT-PCR method.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 778 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
