Farmers loot fertilizers from APF-escorted trucks in Dhading

Farmers have looted fertilizers from two trucks en route to Kathmandu in Dharke of Dhading on Saturday.

About 400 to 500 farmers obstructed fertilizer-laden trucks being brought to Kathmandu under the protection of Armed Police Force (APF) on the highway and looted the fertilizers.

The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) had taken control of the trucks carrying illegal fertilizers on Friday night in Dhading. APF was escorting the same trucks to Kathmandu on Saturday.

After getting information about the same, farmers of Dhading stopped the trucks and took away the fertilizers on Saturday.

APF personnel also clashed with farmers during the incident.

Priyanka Rani Joshi crowned Miss Nepal 2022

Priyanka Rani Joshi has been crowned Miss Nepal 2022 on Saturday evening.

In the Grande Finale of the national beauty pageant held at Godavari in Lalitpur, Joshi won the coveted beauty title.

Similarly, Nancy Khadka won the title of Miss Nepal International and Sarisha Shrestha of Miss Nepal Earth.

As many as 24 contested fiercely competed for the titles this evening in the Grand Finale of Miss Nepal 2022.

Two-way traffic resumes along Narayanghad-Muglin section

The two-way vehicular movement along the Narayanghad-Muglin road section, which was disrupted following a landslide since 11:35 this morning, has resumed from 5:40 Saturday evening.

Spokesperson of District Police Office, Chitwan, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Narahari Adhikari said the two-way traffic has started from 5:40 pm after clearing the landslide.

Crown Prince of Dubai arrives Nepal for three-day visit

Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, arrived here today for a three-day Nepal visit.

He has reached Jhapa today itself to inaugurate the Abdominal CT scan machine installed at Purbanchal Cancer Hospital.

NA Chief Sharma leaves for Lebanon 

Chief of Army Staff of Nepal General Prabhu Ram Sharma has left for Lebanon for an official visit.

Nepal Army Chief Sharma left for Lebanon today with a seven-member team.

He went to Lebanon to seek information about the future plans of the UN mission and to encourage the troops deployed for peace in the conflict-affected areas.

The delegation led by Chief of Army Staff Sharma was bade farewell by Lieutenant General Bal Krishna Karki at the VIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport.

Nepal defeats Kuwait in ACC Women’s T20 Championship

Nepal has won the ACC Women’s T20 tournament for the second time in a row.

In Saturday’s match played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Nepal defeated Kuwait by 25 runs.

Following the 108-run target set by Nepal at the Kinara Oval, Kuwait lost seven wickets in 20 overs and managed to score only 82 runs.

Geta Medical College will be converted into an academy soon: PM Deuba

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed his commitment to make the Geta Medical College under construction at Geta in Kailali an academy soon.

Stating that the pressure for the operation of Geta Medical College has increased recently, Prime Minister Deuba said that it would be developed as an academy.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed administration building of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolis on Saturday, Deuba, who is on a visit to the Far West, said that an act would be brought soon to make Geta a Health Science Academy.

Political leadership kept in dark when NA wrote for participating in SPP: UML leader Gyawali

CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Pradip Gyawali has said that the political leadership was not aware of the request letter sent by the Nepali Army (NA) to participate in the US State Partnership Program (SPP).

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli was the Prime Minister at the time in 215 when the NA had requested the US for involvement in the SPP.

Gyawali, on the other hand, said that the Nepal Army had written the letter without informing the Prime Minister and other political leaders.

In an interaction program organized in Kathmandu on Saturday, former Foreign Minister Gyawali said that the army had written the letter without informing the political leadership during the transition period after the new constitution was drafted in 2015.
