KATHMANDU: The counting of votes is underway in Kathmandu Metropolitan City. More than 40,000 votes have been counted in Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

According to the Office of the Election Commission, 40,505 votes have been counted so far.

According to the latest results, independent candidate Balen Shah has maintained his lead with 15,775 votes. His closest rival CPN-UML’s Keshav Sthapit has got 8,253 votes as of Wednesday morning.

Similarly, Nepali Congress candidate Sirjana Singh got 7,348 votes. Sthapit who is following Balen is trailing behind with 7,522 votes.

As of writing, the counting of votes in wards 1 and 2 of Kathmandu metropolis has been completed. CPN-UML candidate has won in both wards.
