Arif's struggling innings help staggering Nepal



KATHMANDU: Nepal has given a modest target of 118 runs to Oman in the ongoing match under T20 World Cup qualifiers.

Arif Sheikh’s struggling innings gave some relief to Nepal as the key batsmen could not withstand the Oman’s bowling.

Nepal had to take to batting after losing the toss. Nepali team lost the opening batsmen in first 12 runs. Kushal Bhurtel scored 5 runs and Arif Sheikh scored 5 runs. Both of them were caught out by Bilal Khan from Khawar Ali’s hand.

Even after that, the batting did not stop. The most anticipated Dipendra Singh Airee could not give his best today. When he was dismissed for 11 runs, veteran Gyanendra Malla also returned to the pavilion with 15 runs.

Similarly, Lokesh Bam scored 16 runs with one six. Arif was the top scorer for Nepal with 38 runs. Facing 37 balls, Arif struck two fours.

Taking the bat as ninth number player today, Captain Sandeep Lamichhane scored 16 runs off six balls with one six and one four. Khawar Ali took 3 wickets and Bilal Khan took 2 wickets for Oman.
