Six persons arrested for running honey-trapping operation



KATHMANDU: Police has busted a ‘honey trap’ gang of six persons that had been blackmailing people using  teenage girls.

The Valley Crime Investigation Office, Baneshwor, nabbed six blackmailers from various places of the Valley who used girls to take criminal advantage of unsuspecting men.

The arrested have been identified Nikita KC, 19, of Bhaktapur, Manisha Pariyar, 18, of Kavrapalanchok, Dik Bahadur Sharma, 32, of Khotang, Sanjib Darji, 30, of Sunsari, Nima Lama, 25, and Pasang Lama, 30, of Dolakha.

“The group used the teenage girls to lure men to several places under various pretext through social media and collected details such as home address, office address, vehicle numbers of clients,” police said

Police added later they bargained money from clients by accusing clients of false allegations. “They threatened, intimidated unsuspecting people labeling false allegations against them,” police said.

“To trap clients, they even introduced various people by making them as the girl’s family members, journalists and lawyers. They were found to be harassing many people every month for money,” police added.

Police said preparation was underway to charge them with criminal fraud.
