NRB staffers protest across the country demanding withdrawal of action against Governor



KATHMANDU: Employees of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) have agitated against the government demanding that the government withdrew action against Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari.

A black banner has been hung at the central office premises in Baluwatar at the call of the Central Committee of the National Bank Employees Union.

The Association has stated that protests have been staged in all the offices outside the Kathmandu Valley.

The central office building of the Nepal Rastra Bank is located near the main gate of the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.

The staffers protested, demanding an end to the central bank’s blatant interference in its autonomy, an immediate reversal of the action taken against the governor for baseless and fabricated allegations, and an immediate formulation and implementation of a special policy to rescue the troubled national economy.

He demanded that the government withdraw its action against the governor.

The government suspended Governor Prasad Adhikari on April 8 as questions were raised regarding his conduct in the cabinet meeting.

The governor allegedly leaked information about Finance Ministry’s directive to prohibit the import of luxury goods.
