Remittance inflow sees 17 percent rise



KATHMANDU: The country received remittances of Rs 281 billion in three months (review period) of the current fiscal year, a 17 percent rise compared to remittances inflow in the corresponding period last year.

The remittance inflow in the same period last year saw a fall of 7.9 percent compared to the previous year.

In the review period, the number of Nepali obtaining final labour permit (new- institutional and individual) for foreign employment increased by 123.1 percent. In the period 147,932 took the labour permit.

Likewise, the number of Nepali renewing the labour permit for foreign jobs went up 66.2 percent with their numbers counting at 57,861.

Last year, there was a rise in this figure by 217.7 percent as compared to the previous year.

In the review time, the net transfer rose by 17.1 percent to touch at 310.4 billion and it was followed by a 7.6 fall in the corresponding period last year.
