HoR, Province Assembly’s term to expire from Saturday midnight

The Election Commission (EC) has made it clear that the term of House of Representatives (HoR) and Province Assembly would automatically expire from Saturday (September 17) midnight.

Issuing a press release on Friday (today), the EC said the term of the HoR and Province Assembly would expire from midnight September 17, a day before the two days given by the EC to submit closed list of candidates to political parties for the 2022 elections.

17,988,570 voters for Nov 20 poll: EC

The Election Commission (EC) has stated that the total number of voters in the November 20 election will be 17,988,570.

The election for the member of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the members of the Provincial Assembly is scheduled for November 20.

Issuing a press release on Friday, the EC unveiled the figure that there will be 8,847,579 female, 9,140,806 male and 185 other voters in the November 20 election.

The EC has approved the total number of voters.

Govt recommends to prorogue parliament with effect from Saturday midnight

The government has recommended the President to prorogue the 11th session of the parliament from Saturday midnight.

Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Jeevan Ram Shrestha said the cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar, on Friday (today) recommended the President to prorogue the current session of parliament.

Nepal makes it to final of Women’s SAFF Championship 2022

Nepal has made it to the final with a historic victory over India in the 6th edition of Women’s SAFF Championship 2022.

In today’s second semi-final match, Nepal defeated the former champion India by 1-0.

Rashmi Kumari Ghising scored the decisive and winning goal for Nepal. She scored in the first half making optimum use of the ball passed by Priti Rai.

Nepal will now be facing Bangladesh in the finals. The final match will be taking place on Monday.

Training made mandatory for domestic workers going to European countries

The government has made training mandatory for Nepali workers going to European countries as domestic help.

The Department of Foreign Employment has made orientation training mandatory for such workers after it was found that some manpower companies were sending workers to Cyprus, Romania among other countries without imparting them the orientation.

The Guidelines on Sending Domestic Workers in Foreign Employment, 2072 has provisions requiring that the workers to be sent for this purpose should be imparted at least 30 days’ training before going abroad for employment.

Prime Minister Deuba unveils trophy of 9th National Games

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has unveiled the trophy of the ninth National Games.

At a program organized at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar today (Friday), Prime Minister Deuba made public the ‘National Game Trophy’.

NEPSE declines 14.10 points on Friday

 The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped by 14.10 points to close at 1,910.38 points on Friday.

A total of 2,916,271 unit shares of 220 companies were traded for Rs 90 billion.

Similarly, the sensitive index fell 2.23 points to close at 371. 90 points.

11:51 am on Oct 5 most auspicious time to receive Dashain tika

Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Samiti (Calendar Determination Committee) has informed that 11:51 am on October 5 is the most auspicious time to receive Dashain tika this year.

The most auspicious time for Ghatasthapana, the first day of the 15-day Dashain, and scheduled for September 26 is 10:23 am, according to the committee.

Nepal sees 110 new coronavirus cases, one death in past 24 hours

Nepal recorded a total of 110 new cases of coronavirus and one death in the past 24 hours as of Friday.

Of the confirmed cases, 60 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 50 through the Antigen method.

One coronavirus related death was recorded in the past 24 hours, and with this, the COVID-19 death toll in the reaches 12,016 to date.

Investigation underway on big corruption cases: Commissioner Silwal

Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Commissioner Kishor Kumar Silwal said the anti-graft body was undertaking probe on big corruption cases.

At a district-level interaction program entitled ‘Corruption Control and Good Governance’ organized by the Hetauda-based office of the CIAA on Friday, Commissioner Silwal said investigation was being carried out on several corruption related cases such as Lalita Niwas.

Responding to the public complaints regarding the anti-graft body focusing on tiny cases refraining from the big ones, he said investigation was being done on the cases concerning the misuse of public properties.

He also shared that the scam related to procurement of bicycle in Madhes province was also under investigation.

Lumbini declared full vaccination assured province

The Lumbini Province has been declared a full vaccination assured zone amidst a program on Friday.

Lumbini Province Chief Amik Sherchan made the announcement at a program held at the office of Rapti Rural Municipality in Dang.

On the occasion, he urged the stakeholders to pay special attention on the health issues related to children.

Butwal-Gorusinge-Chanauta road to be upgraded to four-lane

Butwal-Gorusinge-Chanauta section of the East-West highway is going to be upgraded to four-lane.

Construction of the 69-kilometer section would be forwarded from next year at the joint initiative of the World Bank and Government of Nepal, according to the Department of Roads.

The cost for the expansion of the road to four-lane has been estimated to Rs 32 billion.

Gold price decreases by Rs 1,000

The price of gold has decreased by Rs 1,000 in the domestic market today.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the hallmark gold is being traded at Rs 91,500 per tola.

The price of yellow metal was Rs 92,500 per tola on Thursday.
