Ninth National Games: Venue for 36 games finalized

GANDAKI: The venues for the 36 games scheduled for the 9th National Games to be held in Gandaki province next month have been finalized.

Of them, nine will be held outside the provincial capital, Pokhara.

According to the National Sports Council, the ITF Taekwondo will be held in Baglung, Taekwondo and Women’s Volleyball in Myagdi, women’s football in Syangja, Chess in Gorkha, Sepaktakro and wrestling in Nawalpur.

Likewise, the shooting event will be held in Kathmandu due to lack of sports infrastructure for the same in Gandaki.

Men’s cricket under the Ninth National Games is already underway in Kathmandu.

Apart from these, the remaining 27 games will be held in Pokhara.

Most of the games will be played at Pokhara Stadium. The National Games is being held from coming October 14 to 20.

The games include athletics, badminton, table tennis, cricket, football, tennis, hockey, boxing, volleyball, gymnastics, kabaddi, weightlifting, shooting and swimming.

Likewise, Handball, Judo, Wrestling, Soft Tennis, Squash, Taekwondo, Wushu, Basketball, Bodybuilding, Chess, Khokho, Karate, ITF Taekwondo, Sepaktakro, Golf, Archery, Fencing, Cycling, Triathlon, Rugby and Paragliding competition will be conducted.

Thelo and canoeing are included as exhibition sports.

A team representing the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRN) as well as from the seven provinces and three departmental teams are competing in the national sporting jamboree.
