Demonstration in Paris to protest oppression, killing of minority teachers in Bangladesh



PARIS: A human chain and demonstration was held at the historic Republic Square in Paris to protest the ongoing torture, oppression and killing of minority Hindu teachers in Bangladesh last Wednesday.

A significant number of Bangladeshi expatriates including various social, cultural organizations participated to the protest rally.

Udichi Shilpogosti France, FPS Bangla (France), World Hindu Federation, HRCBM France Chapter, Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council France, World Buddhist Federation, Ekattar Muktijoddha Chetna Samrakshan Parishad and other organizations were participated to this demonstration.

At the foot of the iconic sculpture of Liberty, Equality, Fraternity of Republic Square, the rally was presided by Kiranmoy Mandal, president of the Udichi France.

Dr. Philippe Benoit, Head of Bangla Department, Inalco University Paris expressed solidarity to this demonstration. Prominent social and cultural activist Monir Qadir, Zahir Hossain Bhuiyan, Salimullah Siddiqui Rana, Deepak Nicholas Gomez and others expressed their solidarity to the protest rally.

Swadesh Barua Chandan, President of Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council France, Biplob Barua, Coordinator of World Buddhist Federation Spain, Dipan Mitra on behalf of World Hindu Federation, Rajat Roy Raju, President of HRCBM France Chapter addressed the protest rally.

Speakers strongly condemned the torture and killing of minority Hindu teachers in Bangladesh and demanded a speedy investigation of all incidents.

The speakers strongly condemned the fundamentalist attacks on religious minorities and progressives by the name of false pretexts of insulting Islam.

Dipan Mitra mentioned that there has been no trial and not a single perpetrator was punished yet for the atrocities against Hindu, Buddhist and ethnic minorities in Bangladesh.

All speakers mentioned that if the Bangladesh government could not take strict initiatives against the fundamentalist groups for the communal attacks on minority and ethnic people, all the development would be squandered.
