11 kg of gold disappeared when Jalhari was placed in Pashupatinath.



KATHMANDU:  The report of the Auditor General has revealed that 11 kg of gold disappeared when the then officers of the Pashupati Area Development Fund placed gold in the Jalhari in the Pashupati temple.

In the 59th report of the General Account, it is mentioned that 10 kg, 967 grams of gold disappeared when Jalhari was kept.

According to the price at that time, the value of the gold is equal to 78.6 million rupees, the report says.

At the time of Jalhari, the fund purchased 103. 773 kg of gold from Nepal Rastra Bank for Rs 800 million.

It was mentioned that the 107.49 kg gold including the mixture of other metals and chemicals, copper 2.89kg, silver 1.249 kg, zinc 12.750 kg were used to prepare the Jalhari .

The metal plate applied on the Argha, water and Panchamrit falling on the Shivling of Pashupati is Jalhari.
