UML Chair Oli criticizes Finance Minister for hiring an outsider to prepare fiscal budget

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Oli has come down heavily on the government for what he said “hiring an outsider” and an unauthorized person while preparing the fiscal budget.

UML Chairman Oli alleged the Finance Minister for taking a “commission” by preparing the budget in favor of a handful of business representatives.

“Isn’t it ridiculous that a minister prepares the country’s budget with the help of business representatives?” he queried at a program in Kathmandu on Thursday.

He asked, “What would be the condition of the country if the budget is prepared by taking commission before it is prepared?”

Oli charged the minister for allowing unauthorized persons to fix the tax rate.

“Does this happen in any system around the world?” he queried adding, “This would not have happened even during the Panchayat era.”

It was earlier reported that Finance Minister Janardan Sharma had manipulated the tax rates by bringing people from outside the ministry.
