KATHMANDU: Nepal defeated Papua New Guinea (PNG) by two wickets in a triangular one-day cricket series under ICC Cricket World Cup League-2.
Nepal completed the target of 205 runs given by PNG in 49 overs with a loss of 8 wickets in 2 balls.
Rohit Kumar Poudel and Arif Sheikh scored half-centuries for Nepal.
Rohit, who faced 85 balls, scored 58 runs with the help of four fours while Arif scored 53 runs off 81 balls with the help of two fours.
Similarly, Karan KC remained unbeaten on 29 runs while Ashif Sheikh contributed 16 runs, Dipendra Singh Airy and Sompal Kami contributed 8 runs each, Gyanendra Malla contributed 4 runs and Kushal Bhurtel contributed 1 run.
Earlier, after winning the toss in Sharjah, UAE, PNG had scored 204 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
Charles Amini was the top scorer for PNG with 59 runs.
Chad Soper added 35 runs, Tony Ura added 27 runs, Lega Siyaka added 25 runs, Norman Bhanu added 23 runs and Asad Bhala added 19 runs.
Sompal Kami of Nepal took three wickets while Gyanendra Malla, Arif Sheikh and Sandeep Lamichhane took one wicket each.
