Over 3500 police to be deployed in Kathmandu Valley during Holi

Traffic checking at more than 68 places



KATHMANDU: As many as 3500 police personnel will be deployed in the Kathmandu Valley to provide security on the occasion of Holi on Thursday.

Spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari, Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh Rathore informed that the police have prepared security arrangements keeping in view the various events of Holi.

Rathore said that security arrangements have been made to avert any unfortunate circumstances.

According to him, Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Hari Bahadur Pal has instructed all the three chiefs of the Valley to prepare effective security arrangements for Holi keeping in view the possible incidents.

Kathmandu alone is preparing to deploy more than 1,700 police personnel, more than 600 in Lalitpur and more than 400 in Bhaktapur.

Meanwhile, as many as 300 traffic police will be deployed keeping in view the negligence of drivers during Holi.

He said that traffic checking will be done at 68 places in Kathmandu Valley on Thursday.
