US Immigration sends Astha Raut back for attempting musical program under tourist visa

KATHMANDU: Singer Astha Raut’s attempt to go to the US on a tourist visa and participate in a paid musical program has failed due to Dallas Immigration.

Raut has been sent back to Nepal by the Immigration, showing that she cannot engage in other economic activities by going on a tourist visa.

5 days ago, she went to Lancaster to participate in a program organized by the Nepali community on the occasion of English New Year. But immigration did not allow her to enter America and sent her back to Nepal.

According to sources, Raut herself said to the officials that she had been in US in 2017, 2018 and 2019 on a tourist visa and participated in a music program.

The immigration turned her away saying that she would have to come on a P3 visa if she wanted to participate in a musical program.

Singer Aastha mentioned on Facebook that she could not attend the program organized by United Home Care Service in Lancaster, USA due to technical problems.

Not only Aastha, most of the artists go to different countries on visit visas and participate in programs organized by the Nepali community there. Such activities are termed illegal. Even before this, some artists had to return from immigration for similar negligence.

Along with Raut, Jagdish Samal, Nalina Chitrakar, Krishna Dhakal, Praveen Bardewa along with dancers Renuka Rai, Muna Chhetri and Dumbar Bhattarai are supposed to participate in the event organized to mark the English New Year.
