PM Deuba should clarify about SPP in Parliament: NC lawmaker Gagan Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary and lawmaker Gagan Thapa has said that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba should clarify the government’s position on the State Partnership Program (SPP) with the United States in the Parliament.

Thapa said that Nepal should not participate in any program linked to the strategic interests of any power.

Speaking in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Thapa said that Nepal should not in any way sign the SPP.

He added that the Constitution of Nepal would not allow such an agreement.

Thapa said, “We will work together with all the powerful nations. However, Nepal is not allowed to participate in any program involving the army.”

Thapa demanded that Prime Minister Deuba, who is also in charge of the defense ministry, should reply in the House today itself.
