CM Raut dismisses NC ministers
Madhes province Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut has dismissed three ministers who participated in the government on behalf of Nepali Congress (NC).
CM Raut’s move against NC ministers came as a reaction to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s dismissal of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) ministers from federal government on Thursday.
NC passes draft of election manifesto
The Nepali Congress (NC) has endorsed the preliminary draft of election manifesto the party prepared for November 20 election of House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly.
Election manifesto preparation committee coordinator General Secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma presented the draft of the manifesto in the meeting of the central work executive committee of the party held on Friday to which Dr Swarnim Wagle made additional interpretation, according to party office chief secretary, Krishna Prasad Poudel.
Dr Wagle made the interpretation on behalf of preliminary draft subcommittee.
UML expels Prabhu Sah
The CPN-UML has expelled Prabhu Sah, the party’s joint in-charge of Madhesh Province.
UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel expelled Sah from the party on the charge of involving in anti-party activities.
Along with Prabhu Sah, the party has also expelled Rauthat district in-charge Upendra Sah and joint in-charge Kundan Prasad Kushawa.
Meanwhile, UML has also dissolved its Rautahat district committee, alleging district committee chairman Tribhuvan Sah and other leaders were involved in anti-party activities.
FNJ objects to EC’s decision to employ Investigation Department to monitor election code
The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has objected to the Election Commission’s initiative to assign the National Investigation Department to monitor whether the election code of conduct is enforced.
FNJ disagreed why EC gave responsibility to the department to monitor whether journalists and media abide by the election code of conduct.
Press Council Nepal has been conducting the media monitoring regularly.
Govt discloses Cabinet decisions
The government has decided to issue an order to unlock difficulties to extend the tenure of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and Commission of Investigation on the Enforced Disappeared Persons until July 17, 2023.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Friday took this decision, according to the Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.
Furthermore, the minimum FDI limit to Nepal is fixed at Rs 20 million.
Minister Karki said that ban on imports of different four lavish goods effective till 14 October is extended up to mid-December.
He further informed that the Cabinet decided to approve and implement the agreement the government had with Prof Dr Govinda KC on September 24.
Minister Karki assumes office
Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, who has the responsibility to look after the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs as well, assumed office today.
On the occasion, the Minister expressed his commitments to promoting and ensuring the rule of law and good governance in practice.
Nepal sees 42 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours
Nepal recorded a total of 42 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Friday.
Of the confirmed cases, all 42 were detected through the RT-PCR method.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 1,069 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
Governor Adhikari discuss digitalization of monetary matters with RBI governor Das
Nepal Rastra Bank governor Maha Prasad Adhikari and his Indian counterpart, governor of Reserve Bank of India, Shaktikanta Das held a sideline meeting in the U.S. capital, Washington DC.
On the occasion, governor Adhikari and Das discussed on several issues including the digitalization of monetary matters of both countries, payment, trade settlement, and SAARC finance and remittance.
Both governors had arrived in the U.S. to participate in the annual meeting of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.
